SafePlace is recruiting for a full-time Legal Advocacy Specialist. This is an 18-month contract position with the potential for on-going employment with continued funding.  Successful candidates will:

  • Provide and assist with legal advocacy services to SafePlace emergency shelter residents, legal clinic attendees and court clients.
  • Maintain and assist in the on-going development of culturally appropriate legal resources.
  • Provide information to clients about safety planning.
  • Organize and attend free legal clinics monthly.
  • Participate in monthly Sexual Assault Response Program shift coverage.
  • Organize and conduct legal resource outreach and education to rural communities, legal service providers, Thurston County courts, and other SafePlace program employees and clients.
  • Provide support during walk-in hours at the Community Services Center and with the helpline, as needed.
  • Attend community services, direct services, and all-staff meetings, as required.
  • Perform duties in a culturally responsive manner.
